Chantwood Magazine: Now Seeking Submissions

Chantwood is an online magazine dedicated to publishing great short stories. They believe that great fiction starts with great characters, so they are looking for unforgettable heroes and anti-heroes in never-before-seen settings. They publish a wide variety of fiction: sci-fi, fantasy, speculative fiction, romance, literary fiction, historical fiction and more. And, while the magazine focuses on short stories, they also publish poetry. They are dedicated to hosting a blind submission process so both emerging and established writers have equal opportunity for publication. No credentials, no names, no bios—at Chantwood, great writing is enough.

Right now, Chantwood is seeking submissions for their eighth issue. The magazine is published bimonthly as a downloadable e-zine, and submitting authors can read past issues online to get a sense of their style. Each issues contains around three to five short stories and five to ten poems.  At the end of each year, Chantwood chooses the best short stories and poems published in the e-zine for publication in an annual anthology.

Fiction writers may submit one short story, 100 to 7,500 words in length. Poets may submit three to five poems, one to two pages each. Submitting authors can expect a response within about three to four months.

Chantwood accepts submissions via email, not online or by post. They accept simultaneous submissions, but ask that authors notify them immediately if their work is published elsewhere. They do not accept multiple submissions, and ask that authors published in Chantwood wait three to four months before submitting again. They do not accept previously published work.
