Monday Night: Now Seeking Submissions

Monday Night is an established online annual focused on publishing writing by emerging authors passed over by mainstream outlets. They’ve been publishing poetry and prose online since 2001. And, they published a print journal until 2014, which is archived in the permanent collections of prestigious institutions such as the New York Public Library.

The best way to get a sense of their aesthetic is to read Monday Night online. Their stylish, modern minimalism makes their journal easy to navigate and pleasurable to read. Each annual edition is carefully honed to feature fewer than ten authors.

Monday Night accepts submissions during two annual reading periods: May 15 through July 15 and October 15 through December 15. They do not read submissions received outside the reading periods. Submitting authors can expect a response within four months.

Poets may submit up to five poems of any length, in any style. Authors of prose may submit fiction or nonfiction, 5,000 words or fewer. Monday Night also accepts English translations in any genre. Authors may only be published in Monday Night once every five years.

Monday Night accepts submission via email, not online or by post. They accept simultaneous submissions but ask that authors withdraw work published elsewhere. They do not accept previously published work, including work published online in any format.

If you would like to learn more or submit to Monday Night, please visit their website here.
